When you create a PolyVid account we collect your email address, display name, and any optional profile details you choose to provide (bio, website, social links, profile photo). When you upload videos we store the video file, thumbnail, title, description, tags, and associated metadata. We automatically collect technical data including IP addresses, browser type, device identifiers, and usage logs to operate and improve the platform. We do not collect payment card data directly — any future subscription payments are handled by PCI-compliant third-party processors.
We use your data to provide and personalize the PolyVid experience: displaying your channel, surfacing relevant videos, enabling comments and messaging, and sending platform notifications you opt into. We use aggregate, anonymised analytics to understand how content performs and to improve our recommendation algorithms. We may send transactional emails (account verification, moderation notices, security codes) and, with your consent, occasional product updates. We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for targeted advertising without explicit consent.
Videos you upload are processed by automated AI moderation tools to detect policy violations such as hate speech, violence, and spam. This processing happens server-side; AI-generated flags are visible only to you and to platform moderators. Moderation decisions can always be appealed through our appeals system. Comments are similarly scanned in real time. We retain moderation logs for up to 12 months to ensure accountability and to support appeals.
All data is transmitted over TLS-encrypted connections (HTTPS). Passwords are never stored in plain text — we use industry-standard hashing. Sensitive actions (account settings changes, security code verification) require re-authentication. We offer optional Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) via a one-time code sent to your registered email, which we strongly encourage all users to enable. We conduct periodic security reviews and promptly address vulnerabilities. Despite our best efforts, no online system is 100% secure; we encourage you to use a strong, unique password.
We use strictly-necessary session cookies to keep you logged in and to prevent cross-site request forgery. We use analytics cookies (first-party only) to measure aggregate platform usage. We do not place third-party advertising cookies. You can clear cookies at any time through your browser settings, though doing so will log you out of the platform.
You have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you. You can update your display name, profile photo, and bio directly from your Profile page at any time. To request a full data export or permanent account deletion (including all videos and comments), contact us at privacy@polyvid.app. We will process requests within 30 days in line with applicable data-protection law including the GDPR and CCPA. If you believe your privacy rights have been violated, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
Active account data is retained for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, your personal data and all associated videos, comments, and messages are permanently deleted within 30 days. Anonymised, aggregated usage statistics that cannot be traced back to you may be retained indefinitely for product research. Moderation logs referencing deleted accounts are anonymised within 30 days of account deletion.
For privacy-related questions or data requests, contact us at privacy@polyvid.app. We may update this policy from time to time; significant changes will be announced via a platform notification. Continued use of PolyVid after a policy change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. The current version date is shown at the top of this page.
